The Hellenic Initiative (THI), the largest nonprofit organization uniting the Greek diaspora – with supporters in more than 47 countries – held its 11th Annual Gala in New York on December 2, to a sold-out audience, raising over $2.65 million to support THI’s selected humanitarian and economic/business development partners in Greece. The black-tie event also honored entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Leonsis, founder, chairman, senior partner and CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, one of the world’s leading regional sports and entertainment companies with the one of the most diverse ownership groups of all. Sport. Leonsis is the majority owner and chairman of the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals, and the 2019 WNBA champion Washington Mystics.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and a silent auction of items at the premier event space 48 Wall Street, followed by a stroll down a red-carpeted Wall Street for dinner, awards presentation and entertainment at Cipriani Wall Street.
