    UNG computer science professor Dr. Bryson Payne was part of the coaching staff of the U.S. Cybersecurity Team that finished third in the first International Cybersecurity Challenge in Athens, Greece.



    Faculty Member, University of North Georgia (UNG) Dr. Bryson Payne helped the U.S. Cybersecurity Team finish in third place at the inaugural International Cybersecurity Challenge (ICC) held June 14-17 in Athens, Greece. Payne, a computer science professor and coordinator of student cyber programs at UNG, was one of several coaches for the United States.

    The U.S. team totaled 7,765 points, finishing behind first place in Europe and second place in Asia and ahead of teams from Oceania, Canada, Latin America and Africa.

    “It was a tough competition between the best cyber athletes from around the world, and it was an incredible experience to watch our team compete at this level in Athens, Greece,” Payne said. “We look forward to welcoming the ICC to the United States next year, and we want all cybersecurity students across the country to participate in the US Cyber ​​Open Season 2 from July 8-17 to have a chance on next year’s team.”
