For many people, “birthright” travel is synonymous with Israel. Birthright Israel has been running partially or fully subsidized trips to the country since 1999 and has inspired cultures around the world to launch similar programs. More than 750,000 members of the Jewish diaspora (defined as having a Jewish biological parent or having converted to Judaism) have since traveled with the program. Participants must be aged 18 to 32, including other eligibility conditions.
For seven to ten days, travelers can visit Jerusalem, where they will see the Western Wall, experience the nightlife of Tel Aviv and floating in the Dead Sea, among other tours and experiences. Beyond the classic trip, which promises a quintessential experience of visiting historical sites, there are trips with themes such as LGBTQ, arts and culture.
