A heartbroken rugby mum and dad are hosting a family fun day this weekend in memory of their beautiful little son.

Laura McCarthy and Gavin Langhor are raising money for the Lily Mae Foundation which has provided help and support since the loss of their baby boy Elis.

ElisFest takes place at The Barley Mow in Newbold tomorrow (Saturday September 9) and everyone is welcome.

The event, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., includes darts, pool and bowling competitions, face painting, a bouncy castle, live music, garden games and a raffle.

Laura said: “We hope that by hosting this event we will help to perpetuate Elis’ name and memory.

“Everyone is invited to come and help us raise money while having a lot of fun.” »

Elis was born prematurely a year ago. He developed an incurable brain hemorrhage.

Little Elis died after 16 hours.

Laura added: “A few hours later we were given a memory box. It contained the hats, blankets, etc. of Elis who accompanied him to the hospital. We were told the Lily Mae Foundation provided this. That’s when I decided we were going to fundraise.

“We wanted to make sure that other parents going through the same thing as us could also get one. We’ve since added things to our box that were precious to us.”

Each box offers precious memories for parents to cope with their grief. Each costs the charity £80.
Entry to ElisFest costs £10, with every penny going to the charity. Donations can be made by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/page/laura-mccarthy-1690367760827?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Flaura-mccarthy-1690367760827&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share
