I guess you expect big cities to have rude people, but an entire city being known as one of the rudest in the country is not something I’m sure any city wants to be known.
Recently, a new ranking came out of America’s 50 Grossest Cities and Chicago comes in at number 4. Business Intern came out with the list and puts Chicago just behind Washington DC, LA, and at the top of the list New York City.
They interview over 2,000 Americans (which I think is odd that you’re compiling a list with only 2,000 people) to come up with the list. 18% of respondents chose Chicago as the rudest city, and this isn’t the first time the city has been on a “rude list.”
According to the local newspaper, Chicago has been a rough city for decades. A 1985 The Chicago Tribune editorial said the rudeness was “chronic, thoughtless, and utterly pervasive.”
Missouri also made the list, St. Louis came in at 30, and just behind Kansas City at 32. As someone who visits both, St. Louis (in my opinion) isn’t as bad as KC. In KC people forget to be nice when driving and just go crazy on the freeway, and yes you have the e in STL, but I feel like it’s not that bad.
Remember to be nice to each other and show a little kindness once in a while.
