BALTIMORE– The Annapolis Greek Festival is in full swing this weekend.
The festival returned Saturday to Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church on Riva Road in Annapolis.
Festival-goers got a taste of Greek culture and heritage with Greek food, music, dancing and vendors.
Church volunteers worked hard to prepare and serve Greek specialties like gyros, baklava and loukoumades, a fried sweet pastry best served with Greek coffee.
“Being Greek is like being part of a community, part of a family, and when we meet Greeks it’s ‘you’re one of us,’” said volunteer Marfoula Mostakis. “And even if you are not Greek, you are one of us. We are very “filotimo”, as they say, friendship, and we welcome people, and we just want you to try everything with what we grew up to do.”
The festival continues on Sunday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
