Technology is a major driver of the development and overall success of nations, and the ability to develop and use burgeoning technologies in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics and data processing holds promise for the growth and progress of countries. At the same time, rapid technological progress threatens to deepen divisions between more and less developed countries.

Technological expertise is one of the 11 attributes used to develop a entrepreneurship sub-ranking which takes into account the Ranking of the best countries 2023 from U.S. News. The Global Best Countries analysis is based on a survey of more than 17,000 global citizens and assessed perceptions of 87 countries using 73 different attributes. In the survey, respondents indicated whether they associated different countries with the words “technological expertise.” Perceptions of a country’s technological expertise also contributed to rankings of best countries to invest in and the most forward-looking countries.
