Talks in Cyprus are expected to address the issue of territory in Mont Pélerin, Switzerland, on Wednesday, according to reports.

In light of the meeting on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Cyprus time, President Nicos Anastasiades held a meeting with his negotiating team Tuesday evening.

Sources indicated on Tuesday that a document had been drawn up on the Greek Cypriot territorial development proposals.

Victoras Papadopoulos, deputy government spokesperson said on Twitter on Wednesday morning that the two sides were preparing to delve deeper into the territorial issue.

Reports have indicated that a priority for Greek Cypriots is to set a criterion for the number of refugees to be returned to a state administered by Greek Cypriots, and then to set the criteria for territorial adjustment.

Sources added that the Greek Cypriot side will not allow the territorial issue to be linked to the security issue.

    Territorial adjustments

According to Turkish Cypriot sources By participating in the Mont Pélerin meetings, today and tomorrow a discussion will begin on the criteria that will create the basis for the territorial adjustments and state borders of the two states that will arise.

The same sources indicated that if there is agreement based on these core values, the process of this chapter can move to the final phase.

Turkish Cypriot sources indicated that if a date was set for a five-person conferencein which both parties and the guarantor powers will participate: Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom, a card will be put on the table for the first time.

However, the same sources indicated that if the date for a five-party conference was not fixed, the agreement reached in Cyprus and handed over to the two leaders by the UN to fall into pieces.

Tuesday there was a crash test on the territorial issue in the morning, while in the afternoon progress was noted during Anastasiades’ meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.
