    A champion of Greek-American heritage

    Last Monday, February 12, we lost a beacon of the Greek-American community, Stelios Stroumbakis. His passing resonates deeply among those who knew him, leaving a void in the hearts of many. Born in Constantinople and having spent his entire life in the United States, Stroumbakis was a former scientific advisor to Con Edison. Yet it is his dedication to preserving Greek heritage and culture in America that truly sets him apart.

    A life dedicated to heritage and community

    Stroumbakis’ commitment to the Greek-American community was evident in his many leadership roles within various organizations. He served as a board member of the Society of Athenians of New York and the Kavala Association, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to upholding the cultural values ​​and traditions of his native country.

    Additionally, Stroumbakis held the esteemed position of supreme treasurer of the Pan-Macedonian Association of the United States. His financial acumen, honed during his time at Con Edison, proved instrumental in supporting and developing the Association’s initiatives.

    Honoring a Legacy

    As we mourn the loss of this remarkable individual, the Greek American community comes together to celebrate and pay tribute to his life. Visitation will take place on February 15, followed by funeral services on February 16.

    Stroumbakis’ legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and future generations who will continue to benefit from his tireless efforts to preserve and promote Greek heritage and culture in America.

    In memory of Stelios Stroumbakis

    February 12, 2024, marked a dark day for the Greek-American community. Stelios Stroumbakis, beloved figure and dedicated defender of Greek culture and heritage, has died at the age of 71. Born in Constantinople, Stroumbakis spent his life in the United States, while remaining deeply connected to his roots.

    His contributions to the community were wide-ranging and impactful, leaving an indelible mark on the organizations he served and the lives of those he inspired. As we remember Stelios Stroumbakis, let us honor his memory by continuing to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural tapestry that was so dear to him.
