The “Academic Innovation Center” was inaugurated at the United International University on October 18. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina participated in the inauguration ceremony virtually. This initiative was taken under the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority’s ‘Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development’ (DEIED) project, a press release said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually inaugurated the innovation hub of three universities, including United International University, and laid the foundation stone of this hub in seven other universities.
Prof Dr Md Abul Kashem Mia, Vice-Chancellor, UIU, was present as the chief guest at the programme, which was held at the UIU Innovation Centre. Abubokor Hanip, President and Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology, Washington, USA, and Sylvana Quader Sinha, Founder, President and CEO of Praava Health, were present as speakers. Professor Khondaker A. Mamun, Professor in the Department of CSE and Director of IRIIC, UIU, Founder of CMED Health presided over the ceremony.
The chief guest, Prof. Dr. Md Abul Kashem Mia, said that “the objective of the innovation hub is to foster innovation in businesses, develop commercially viable products and effective marketing strategies, accelerate the economic development of the nation and create new employment opportunities.
Professors, civil servants, academicians, government officials, industry representatives, researchers and other distinguished guests were present at the inaugural ceremony.
