Minister of State for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain said that Bangladesh has achieved incredible successes in agriculture. The agricultural sector plays an important role in food production, ensuring sustainable food security, employment and export trade.
The Minister of State made the comment during an agri-entrepreneurship conference on Saturday (October 21). United Commercial Bank PLC organized the event at Sheikh Russel Auditorium in Kurigram, a press release said.
In the same continuity, as part of the CSR project of the United Commercial Bank, “Bhorosar Notun Janala”, training for agricultural entrepreneurs was organized. The Minister of State for Primary and Mass Education inaugurated the program as the chief guest.
Appreciating the project of United Commercial Bank, the state minister said other commercial banks should also come forward to help agricultural entrepreneurs. If everyone works together, Bangladesh will move towards the desired progress.
Speaking as a special guest, ATM Tahmiduzzaman FCS, Deputy Managing Director and General Secretary, UCB, said, “Our special CSR project will open a ‘Bhorosar Notun Janala’ in the minds of agro-entrepreneurs in the country. “a way” to stand with agriculture and farmers inspired by the mantra of building a golden Bengal”,
The one-day agri-entrepreneurship conference was attended by around 200 selected agro-entrepreneurs from 9 Upazilas of Kurigram district. Former High Commissioner Jishnu Roy Choudhury, Rezaul Karim Siddique, Bangladesh Television anchor Maati O Manush and agriculture information analyst Kaziul Islam, Kurigram Municipality Mayor, District Commissioner Saidul Arif , District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department Biplab Kumar Mohant, Animal Husbandry Officer Md. Asaduzzaman, Senior Fisheries Officer Ismat Ara and other bank officials took speak on occasion.
