Sui, the high-performance layer-1 blockchain platform for decentralized computing, has partnered with the American University of Sharjah (Australia) to create the AUS-Sui Blockchain Academy.
This initiative aims to advance blockchain education in the Middle East.
An innovation hub for blockchain developers
Operating under the umbrella of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Sustainability, the academy will open doors for future developers, providing in-depth learning opportunities on various blockchain-related topics.
“The AUS-Sui Blockchain Academy will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in tomorrow’s evolving landscape,” said Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of AUS. “This allows them to engage with cutting-edge technologies and pave the way for a future marked by responsible innovation.”
The partnership aligns with the academic pedigree of Sui’s leadership team. Dr. Greg Siourounis, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, holds a doctorate in economics and has experience in academic studies and entrepreneurship.
Likewise, Sui’s co-founders have a strong academic background, with Kostas Chalkias having a PhD in cryptography and Sam Blackshear creating the Move smart contract language.
Sui also created a Web3 program at London Business School’s Wheeler Institute for Business and Development, awarded $400,000 in Sui Academic Research Awards, and launched an advanced Web3 program for high school students in Greece.
Invest in the future
“This academy will provide future builders with the knowledge to create Web3 solutions to address global challenges,” said Dr. Siourounis. “Seeing this collaboration come to fruition fills me with pride, especially considering the region’s potential to play a key role in technological innovation.
The partnership, facilitated by Sui strategic partner Ghaf Labs, opens up exciting possibilities for future development.
Feras Al Sadek, Founder and Managing Partner of Ghaf Labs, said: “The AUS-Sui Blockchain Academy will enable future generations to contribute meaningfully to the industry and the region. »
This collaborative effort aims to lay the foundation for a future where blockchain technology is accessible, understood and harnessed to create positive change in the Middle East and beyond.
In August last year, Bybit crypto exchange has awarded scholarships to high-achieving AUS students as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting crypto education and adoption in the UAE. This is the second announcement after Bybit’s partnership with AUS.
