MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan Athletics invites all alumni, friends and family members to campus this weekend as Central Michigan University welcomes its 99th Annual reunion weekend.

The annual homecoming football game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 against Akron at Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The contest is designated “Gold Out” because fans are encouraged to wear gold clothing to the game. Tickets are still available for the match. For more ticket information or to purchase tickets to the Homecoming game, please call (989) 774-3045 or email ticketcentral@cmich.edu. For those who are unable to attend Homecoming Weekend in Mount Pleasant, the football game will be televised on ESPN+.

Homecoming is a Central Michigan tradition that began Nov. 22, 1924 when the Chippewas defeated Alma 13-0. Central Michigan holds an all-time record of 59-34-1 in homecoming games (note: CMU did not play homecoming games for four years, from 1943 to 1945 due to World War II worldwide and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Next year’s game will mark 100th anniversary reunion in central Michigan.

Two more CMU Athletics teams will be in action in Mount Pleasant this weekend. In addition to the soccer game, CMU field hockey will host Ohio on Friday at 2 p.m., while CMU Soccer will host Akron on Sunday at 1 p.m.

“Homecoming weekend is a celebration event for our tremendous academic and athletic program,” said Amy Folan, Zyzelewski athletic director. “This is a great time for all of our students, student-athletes, alumni, family members and fans to come show their support for Central Michigan and enjoy all of the events planned this weekend.”

The theme of this year’s reunion weekend is the Hollywood red carpet. In addition to the game, Central Michigan University has planned a variety of events for alumni and fans.
