Rochester business leaders are supporting the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship with the creation of a Founders 5 Scholarship program for incoming students.
The Founders 5 Scholarship provides a $5,000 grant per year to eligible 2022, 2023 and 2024 graduates of Section V high schools. Applicants must be nominated by a high school administrator, teacher or guidance counselor, present the characteristics best suited to succeed at the Institute and desire to develop their business ideas or careers in the Rochester area.
Founding companies supporting the scholarship program include Domino’s Pizza, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Greenlight Networks, M&T Bank, New Vision Development Group, Paychex, Second Avenue Learning and Wegmans.
“I am deeply grateful for the support of our advocates and supporters through their commitment to internships, their presentation and networking with our students and their collaboration with us to produce 250 entrepreneurially minded and professionally prepared graduates by year once we reach our steady state,” Golisano said, in a statement. “These founders believe, as I do, that the institute will have a significant positive impact on the lives of young people and the economic future of the region.
Founded and fully funded by Golisano, the Golisano Institute offers a tailored two-year certificate program aimed at making premier business education accessible to everyone. The institute will open its doors this fall to welcome its first class of students.
Tuition for the two-year certificate program is $8,900 per year, payable in two installments of $4,450. Need-based financial aid is also available to eligible students, including Founders 5 Scholars.
Applications for the Founders 5 Scholarship can be submitted until July 1. Recipients will be recognized in August at an event hosted by Golisano.
