Greece is among the top 20 countries for entrepreneurs and startupsaccording to a recent study conducted by Compare the marketa UK-based insurance comparison website.
The study examined several parameters in 34 countries across the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)including the percentage of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of all businesses, the number of active businesses, GDP per hour worked in USD, and the self-employment rate.
Greece obtained an index of 5.55 out of 10tied with Sweden at number 13 on the list.
The country’s score is explained by its high percentage of SMEs, which constitute 99.75 percent of all companies in the country.
Furthermore, Greece had a self-employment rate of 31.83 percentamong the highest of the 34 countries studied, indicating that it has a strong entrepreneurial culture.
However, Greece’s score was lowered by its low GDP per hour worked, which was $33.18the third lowest on the list.
