The event organized to salute the success of Mega TV’s popular Greek television series, “Maestro”, the first ever exclusive global distribution deal of a Greek scripted television series on the NETFLIX streaming platform, was successfully organized with the participation of prominent members of the Greek community. Diaspora, under the auspices of the Consulate General of Greece in New York, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in the Chiotes Room of the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York.
Attendees welcomed the creator, Christoforos Papakaliatis, with warm greetings. The Greek series, which combines the roots and traditions of the country with the current issues of today’s society, has enjoyed great success with the Greek public. Extending beyond Greek borders, the series will “travel” across the world via the streaming platform available on Friday March 17.
Consul General Dinos Konstantinou said: “The extremely popular and talented Christoforos Papakaliatis is one of the most loved actors in Greece! Success came early for Mr. Papakaliatis. A restless spirit, constantly evolving, he quickly found himself behind the cameras. His impact as a creator, screenwriter and director on Greek television and film production is undeniable. After the screening of the teaser of the series, its creator, Christoforos Papakaliatis, very moved by the guest’s response, addressed the audience, enchanting them with his simple and graceful attitude. In his speech, the charismatic Christoforos Papakaliatis emphasized that for several years he had maintained particularly strong ties with the Greek-American diaspora, who supported him at every step by sending them special thanks.
As he said: “Maestro represents the last two years of my life”, and I do not hide that the thought of the day of the international premiere, as well as the work already started on the second season, underlines . However, “the strength gained from the results of the first season constitutes the “weapon” for the start of the new season, which will end at the end of 2023.”

Christoforos Papakaliatis said: “I would like to thank the Mega channel, because we could not have achieved this without them. Filming for the second season will begin on April 3, and four of the season’s eight episodes have already been written. Papakaliatis revealed that the violent character Charalambos, killed in the first season, will appear in the second, but he did not explain how. Regarding the success of the series, Papakaliatis said that it was difficult to predict such a thing, but from the first day of production he knew that the quality of
the show was, in all respects, quite high, and this often serves as a guarantee of a good result.
Olga Bornozi, Managing Director of Capital Link, master of ceremonies for the evening, spoke of the great talent of Christoforos Papakaliatis, who has enjoyed great success throughout his career. A fact that has been proven with the international travel series that MAESTRO carries out through the global NETFLIX platform.
