(Ministry of Culture)
Culture Minister Lina Mendoni on Monday received three ancient Greek objects to be repatriated to the Michael Carlos Museum at Emory University in Atlanta, United States.
According to a ministry statement, the objects, originating from Crete, Epirus and Attica, were the product of illegal excavations, trafficked by antiquities smugglers and illegally exported from Greece before reaching the Carlos Museum.
The objects include a Minoan clay larnax with fish decorations dating from the 14th century BC, a 2nd century BC marble statue of a young woman leaning on a tree trunk, and a seated marble male figure from an Attic tomb relief from the late 4th century. BC.
