SCORE Honors LGBTQ+ Small Business Owners
WASHINGTON, June 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — During Pride Month, SCOREmentor of America’s small businesses and resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, honors the 1.4 million LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs across the country.
LGBTQ+ small businesses contribute $1.7 trillion to the U.S. economy each year, according to a SCORE meta-analysis. In addition, the LGBTQ+ community has purchasing power estimated at $917 billion in the USA
“LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs play a vital role in the small business community,” said SCORE CEO. Brigitte Weston. “We want the LGBTQ+ community to know that we are here to provide them with the tools and resources they need to excel when starting or growing their business.”

Sarah Scalapresident and principal consultant of Sarah A. Scala Consulting at Watertown, Mass., has used SCORE as a resource since the creation of his company 10 years ago. While she had been coming out to friends and family for several years, she came forward publicly in 2021 to support and provide leadership coaching services to LGBTQ+ clients. As part of her journey, Scala explains, “I challenged myself every month to do something more to promote the fact that I provide LGBTQ+ services. This has not been easy.
