Steven M. Stroum, small business advocate and author of “Success and Self-Discovery,” his business memoir, celebrates National Entrepreneurship Month this November

Steven M. Stroum, founder and president of Venmark International, is a long-time advocate for small businesses and wants to increase awareness of “National Entrepreneurship Month.” It highlights that 99.9% of American businesses are small businesses and that small businesses are the nation’s largest job creators, responsible for more than 64% of net new private sector jobs and 49.2% of jobs in the private sector. UNITED STATES.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., October 31, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Unfortunately, very few people know about “National Entrepreneurship Month” and Stroum believes that’s a shame because 99.9% of American businesses are small businesses and small businesses are the most major job creator in the country, responsible for more than 64% of businesses. % of net new jobs in the private sector and 49.2% of employment in the UNITED STATES. National Entrepreneurship Month was launched by President Obama in 2011 and one of the main goals was to unlock access to capital for entrepreneurs and expand mentoring opportunities.

The beginnings of American entrepreneurship can be traced back to settlers who engaged in trade and barter with Native Americans, resulting in mutual benefit for both parties. Following the entrepreneurial efforts of early settlers, entrepreneurship flourished in the period following the American Civil War. Entrepreneurship represents the best of America. The entrepreneurs of this country believe in the rights and responsibilities of citizens and firmly adhere to the spirit of independence on which this nation was founded and with which it must continue to prosper.

Our small business leaders are the fabric of our society. They are unsung heroes who take risks every day and create better lives for their employees, customers and neighbors. They are innovators and competitors who own hair salons, beauty salons, restaurants, auto repair shops, boutiques, etc. They work long hours, sponsor charity events, and generally play a very positive role in their community. Entrepreneurs champion personal responsibility and represent the relationship between personal freedom and free enterprise and the American dream of independence.

Naturally, when thinking about entrepreneurs, outliers such as Steve Jobs, Bill GatesAnd Jeff Bezos come to mind. The founders of Apple, Microsoft and Amazon, respectively, literally transformed the way the world communicates, plays games and purchases goods and services. One thing is certain, the 1980s gave birth to many great companies. Not just Apple and Microsoft, but also Oracle, Sun Microsystems and many other hardware, software and technology companies.

Entrepreneurs are responsible for their own actions and their success depends on it. Traditionally, this has been the American way, the American spirit, and the manifestation of the American dream. This attitude was predominant in the 1980s, when Reagan-era policies that called for across-the-board tax cuts and deregulation of domestic markets created a positive economic environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Today, however, Biden’s economic policies threaten small businesses by making it harder for them to do business. Interest rates are higher than they have been in many years and regional banks serving small businesses are under enormous pressure. Add to that the cost of regulations promulgated by his administration, lowering IRS audit thresholds, associated legal and administrative costs, inflation, and rising product and employment costs and you see clearly the problems facing entrepreneurship. America needs the entrepreneurial ecosystem we had in the 1980s. Without help for small businesses, the American dream could end up turning into a nightmare. Let’s celebrate entrepreneurship!
