    Tornos News | Building Bridges to Greece at the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago on January 28

    Athens, known for its innovative music scene, comes to the heart of Chicago’s Greek Quarter with Building Bridges to Greece, an exciting concert featuring four new works by Greek-American and modern Greek composers at the National Hellenic Museum, 333 South Halsted Street, Sunday, January 28 at 3 p.m.

    A unique collaboration between Building Bridges and the National Hellenic Museum will premiere works for solo bassoon by esteemed Greek composers: Niki Harlafti (Chicago, IL), Konstantinos Baras (Chicago, IL), Stratis Minakakis (Boston, MA), and Michalis Paraskakis (Athens, Greece).

    This event celebrates contemporary Greek classical music and the dynamism of Greek culture today. The concert promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of innovation and creativity.

    About building bridges

    Building Bridges is a collaborative initiative led by American bassoonist Ben Roidl-Ward, assistant professor of bassoon at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Greek composer Niki Harlafti, Ph.D. in composition and music technology, Northwestern University. Their mission is to commission, perform, promote and document new bassoon works by Greek composers, thereby fostering connections and education among diverse audiences.
