Hellenic police said they checked a total of 21,609 people and 16,181 vehicles across Greece on Wednesday and brought 733 people for questioning at police departments, ANA reports.
The majority of document checks, detentions and tickets issued took place in West Attica (901, 9 and 88, respectively).
In the same context, Greek police also carried out checks in areas with high criminal activity in the prefectures of Achaia, Aetolia, Akarnania and Elia, all located in Western Greece.
Additionally, police checked companies managing the processing and recycling of metal objects in the Ionian Islands, the North Aegean Islands and the Peloponnese, including in the municipalities of Corfu, Chios and Laconia, respectively.
