The inauguration of the restored palace of Macedonian King Philip II in Aigai, nicknamed the “Parthenon of Macedonia”, is an event of global significance, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at the inauguration ceremony on Friday, reports the ANA.
βIt is no coincidence that I chose to be here again, in the first visit, essentially, of the new year, to honor a monument of the Kingdom of Macedonians,β the Prime Minister said, emphasizing : “Our bet is to be able to make Aigai a point of reference, a monument to the greatness of our ancestors, but also a part of our modern life. This magnificent archaeological park can and must become a catalyst for economic development for Vergina, Imathia and the whole region of Macedonia.”
