The Kalymnian Society ‘Prodromos’ of Campbell, OH celebrated its 100th anniversary with a rich multi-day celebratory program that concluded on Saturday, November 25, including a gala dinner dance at the packed Mr. Anthony Banquet Center , in the presence of members and friends. .
Official guests of the celebratory events included Bishop Paisios of Kalymnos, Leros and Astypalaia, Prefect of Kalymnos Manolis Mouselis, newly elected Mayor of Kalymnos Ioannis Mastrokoukos, US Congressman Gus Bilirakis of Florida, Kalymnian origin, as well as representatives of other associations.
Nicholas Kalouris, president of the Pan-Kalymnian Association of America as well as president of the Kalymnian Association of Campbell, warmly thanked, through the National Herald, the dignitaries who came from Kalymnos and honored the events with their presence. He expressed his gratitude to all the guests and members of the Board of Directors for their efforts.
He briefly outlined the history of the Society, stating: “Prodromos was founded in 1923 by a small group of immigrants from Kalymnos who came to Ohio for a better life. Events like today help second, third and even fourth generation children learn about the traditions, customs and culture of our unique homeland.
