US News & World Report has released its list of Ranking of the best countries in the world for 2023showcasing the world’s best based on a comprehensive list of qualifications ranging from economics to cultural heritage and more.
This year, Switzerland retained its position as the best country in the world for the sixth time. This year, Canada ranks second among the best countries in the world. Sweden and Australia both made good progress, moving up two and three places respectively, to rank among the top five countries in the world. The United States is in fifth place, dropping one place from last year due to a decline in business underranking.

“A country’s economy, as well as its potential for success in key areas such as trade, travel and investment, depends in part on how it is perceived globally,” said Morgan Felchner, U.S. News news and events editor. “The 2023 Best Countries Ranking and Report examines these perceptions based on several qualitative characteristics, giving policymakers and residents of various countries useful insight into the perceived value of their country.
Additionally, the best countries to travel alone this year are Spain, Greece and Italy. The greenest countries in the world are Sweden, Japan and Norway. The top countries for racial equality this year are New Zealand, Canada and the Netherlands.
