During firefighting operations in the Karystos region of Greece, during a record year for fires in the region, a Canadair CL-215 of the Hellenic Air Force crashed today after performing a waterfall on a fire in the area. UPDATE 12:38 p.m. EDT: The Hellenic Air Force has just announced that the two pilots did not survive their injuries in the accident and would like to announce the death of pilots Cpt. Christos Moulas, 34, and Lieutenant Periklis Stefanidis, 26. The CL-215 involved in the accident was aircraft 1055. Our thoughts are with the Hellenic Air Force and the families of those who died in today’s tragic accident.
