Ellenos Real Greek recalls vanilla Greek yogurt in 4 oz. cups, sold at Costco because they may contain undeclared eggs.
For people with egg allergies, this can pose a risk of a life-threatening allergic reaction.
The yoghurt pot carries UPC 8 57290 00620 1 and is sold as part of a pack of 12. Each case carries UPC 8 57290 00617 1. This is a refrigerated item packaged in a clear plastic cup with a blue aluminum seal and can be identified by the blue letters on the front panel display.
The affected vanilla bean Greek yogurt has lot number 073. The yogurt has a best before date of 04/23/2023 printed on a blue aluminum seal.
No other Ellenos brand yogurt products of other sizes or flavors are affected. According to the FDA, no illnesses or deaths have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated when a few 4-ounce cups containing bright yellow puree instead of solid white yogurt with vanilla bean flakes were discovered in cups of vanilla bean yogurt.
It was determined that pots of vanilla yogurt had been inadvertently used and packaged with lemon yogurt. The label on the vanilla yogurt container does not mention egg, the company said.
