In the age of the digital world, the issue of cybersecurity and the digital state as well as that of cyber threats are of major and vital importance. The Ministry of E-Governance focuses on strengthening the resilience of the digital state, secure delivery of modern services, protection of individual rights and cultivation of trust. “When we talk about cybersecurity, the numbers make us dizzy,” Minister of Electronic Governance Dimitris Papastergiou told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
The danger is enormous and the National Cybersecurity Authority Act has responded to these increased national needs by improving the level of monitoring, information and support for agencies involved in the cybersecurity sector and strengthening the ecosystem of digital innovation in the country through the creation of an environment with secure infrastructure.
“In just one week, we had 13.3 million DDoS attacks against government sites and at least 500,000 more serious attacks. We want an environment with secure infrastructure. The National Cyber Security Authority ensures that the framework exists and will be continually strengthened. Cybercrime is evolving as is defense against cyberattacks,” Papastergiou said.
