GREECE, NY — One thing we have learned during the pandemic is to appreciate the importance of being able to be together and enjoy each other in social settings.
This is something the city of Greece is doing through a special program called Time Out for Women.
Spectrum News 1 presenter Cristina Domingues recently had the chance to meet some wonderful women who enjoy the program through the town’s community center. She shared her experiences about her work.
Time Out for Women hosts guest speakers each week on all kinds of topics from travel to food to who has great jobs.
Program directors say the pandemic put things on pause and they are happy to be back.
“We try to engage them here at the community center in everything: their mind, their body, their soul,” Peter O’Brien, director of Greece Parks and Recreation. “Time Out for Women captures their spirit and their soul. It’s an opportunity for them to come and socialize with friends they can see every week. For some women, that’s it. We range from our 60s to 90s in terms of age. For some of them, it’s the selling point every week.”
The program is open to everyone, not just Greek residents.
