Opening of the “Art of Science” exhibition: The UC San Diego Library’s Art of Science 2023 exhibit opened last weekend and will be on display through Jan. 15 at two locations: UCSD’s Sally T. WongAvery Library and the Museum San Diego Natural History Museum at Balboa Park. The exhibit features nine award-winning images from the library’s Art of Sciences competition, which celebrates research conducted at UCSD and beyond in the fields of archaeology, ocean science, chemistry, climate, engineering and much more. Opening of the “SneakerHead” exhibition: San Diego textile artist Domonique DA King is hosting a solo show of sneaker-related artwork that she creates entirely from colorful yarn and nails. Over the past 10 years, King has honed his unique artistic medium for celebrating black culture. There will also be a back-to-school shoe drive for children in the community.
