The peak of the coronavirus and COVID-19 outbreak, which began in mid-November, is expected to arrive by the end of January, but it will not put significant pressure on the national health system, said assistant professor of epidemiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Gikas Magiorkinis told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Saturday.

According to the EODY epidemiological report from December 18 to 24, 1,496 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized in ordinary beds. The number of admissions showed an increase of 37% compared to the average weekly number of admissions over the previous 4 weeks and was higher than the number of admissions for the corresponding week of 2022. Intubations showed a slight decrease while as deaths reached 62.
