Greek and foreign firefighters and volunteers, accompanied by ground and air assistance, fought for a sixth day on Thursday to contain and extinguish the large fire in the natural habitat of the Dadia forest in the northeast of the Greece, reports ANA.
The forest has suffered extensive damage and there are fears that members of the black vulture (Aegypius monachus) that live in the forest as well as 35 other species of birds of prey will be seriously affected. The smoke that covered the area made it impossible to assess the damage.
