Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis stressed on Tuesday that it is necessary to prevent the crisis in the Middle East from spreading to other regions, in statements after his visit to Amman, Jordan, before his departure for Cairo and after a meeting with King Abdullah II on Tuesday, reports ANA. .
“We must concentrate all our forces to prevent this crisis from spreading to other regions that are by definition particularly vulnerable, such as Lebanon and the Red Sea, where we are already going through a period of increasing tension in terms of maritime security.”, Gerapetritis said.
At the same time, he indicated that Greece is able to intervene creatively and meaningfully in the Middle East issue, emphasizing that at the height of this situation, it could dialogue with Palestine and with Israel ” so that we can get out of this bitter struggle as quickly as possible and restore peace and prosperity to the region.”
After his visit to Amman, Gerapetritis went to Cairo, where he will meet his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry and will be received on Wednesday by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi.
