POCATELLO, Idaho – Chocolate Baklava? Get out of here. There might be a rush just for that, but the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Pocatello said this year’s Greek festival is being held to reduce wait times for food.
There was talk of adding another service line, but members instead decided the Aug. 26 event would feature pre-made gyros so people wouldn’t have to hang around making them, East Idaho said News.
“We take 5 to 6,000 people in a short time. We are trying to move things forward,” said parish priest Father Constantine Zozos. “We’re going to have, sort of, a Disney queue and we’ll have (water) misters for people waiting in line.”
This year, a new menu item she’s particularly excited about is chocolate-covered baklava. “You can’t find this food anywhere – not this good. And it’s fresh,” he also said.
Food lines, as in previous years, will include local VIPs serving homemade food as an added attraction, although the chocolate baklava should be enough on its own.
