Greek notaries ended their abstention and returned to it on Monday, following a decision by their extraordinary general assembly approving the use of a digital property transfer system set up by the government on January 1, reports the ANA.
Digital registration of property transfers via the platform https://akinita.gov.gr will enable a same-day response (acceptance or rejection), instead of months-long delays in bureaucratic processing.
The platform can be used by both citizens and notaries. It reduces administrative formalities by removing four documents, including proof of payment of property tax (TAP) and the summary of a real estate contract. This also eliminates long processing delays or queues at the National Land Registry Office.
In summary, the steps that a citizen must take are three: log in as a citizen and accept an invitation from the notary; select the property for sale by current owner or co-signer; pay the fees (as buyer) and register them in the land register.
In a statement on January 3, the government called on notaries to use the platform, guaranteeing that transfers will be concluded within one working day. Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Constantinos Kyranakis said the government presented the application to the Athens Notaries Association on January 2 and will do so in Thessaloniki on January 3 (today).
