With a formal dinner and the customary cutting of the New Year’s vasilopita cake, Pan Gregorian – New Jersey and the Pan Gregorian Fund philanthropic foundation celebrated the New Year on Monday, January 8 at the Graycliff Catering Hall.
Before the dinner, the Kenilworth City, New Jersey offices of the company – which is a Greek-American cooperative serving the restaurant and food industries – were blessed with holy water by Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey. During his greetings, Metropolitan Apostolos mentioned that the sacred custom of vasilopita symbolizes the spirit of family, solidarity, love and harmony.
He added that “two words come to mind today, companion and supporter, because the Church and the Gregorian Pan share a common goal: to be united as a nation and in our language. Greece and its culture are light, as is our Church, and you share abundant light through your work. I thank you for everything you have given to society over the decades. I wish you to continue your worthy work and always be healthy and blessed.
Pan Gregorian President Michalis Zavolas extended New Year’s greetings to the Greek-American community through the National Herald, saying he wishes “many years of happiness, health and progress to the community Greek” and spoke of the successful work of Pan Gregorian. organization over the past 39 years, which, as he said, is due to the countless number of people who have volunteered and donated money.
