US President Barack Obama held a celebration in honor of Greek Independence Day at the White House on April 4.

In his speech, he welcomed the Greeks and Americans present at the event and spoke about the relations between two friends, the United States and Greece, while praising the Greeks for their strength.

The US president also stressed that Greek-American relations go back a long way in history and that Greece is a very important ally for the United States.

Mr. Obama concluded his speech by saying ‘Zito Hellas‘, that is to say Long live Greece in Greek.

The event, a 30-year-old tradition, was attended by many prominent Americans and Greek dignitaries.
