Befitting a team loaded with international talent, the VCU basketball Rams will soon be making an international excursion.
Coach Ryan Odom’s team will travel to Greece from July 31 to August 9 to play three exhibition games and visit Athens and the surrounding area.
VCU’s foreign-born players include Michael Belle and Tobi Lawal of Great Britain, Sean Bairstow of Australia and Max Shulga of Ukraine.
Bairstow and Shulga are transfers from Utah State. Lawal, a second-year student, is the only returnee among the group. Belle and Patrick will be in first year.
It really is a reward in advance. Only four of the players and none of the coaches traveling to Greece have ever appeared in a VCU game.
