CORTLAND, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Greek Peak has been chosen as one of the top eight ski resorts in North America and is now asking Central New York to help it become number one.
HKD Snowmakers “I AM a Snowmaker Contest” chose Greek Peaks as one of the best videos to vote on, and if they win, HKD Snowmakers will host them at its Canadian headquarters in Quebec for two days of education and entertainment.
According to Greek Peak, this competition showcases their snowmaking operations and advancements. They are now asking the Central New York community vote for them to win now until Friday, February 2.
“This year’s “I AM A Snowmaker” video contest theme — presented by Ski Area Management Magazine (SAM) And HKD snow guns — was to produce a “day in the life” video that captures the hard work and dedication of the snowmaking team and how snowmakers’ contributions translate into personal development and the overall success of the mountain” , Greek Peak said.
The Greek Peak snowmaking team is made up of 24 employees who they say play a crucial role in creating and maintaining the ski trails during the winter season.
“Their more than 65 years of combined professional experience and knowledge are essential to ensuring consistent snow coverage, even in the harsh weather conditions of Central New York. These dedicated individuals often work long hours but love every minute, which is why they chose to be part of the Greek Peak snowmaking team,” Greek Peak said.
Greek Peak Mountain Resort President Wes Kryger said snowmaking at Greek Peak has a long and storied history, with Kryger even playing a role in the late 1970s.
“Technological advances in snowmaking have been considerable since I was on the
mountain with the team, but without a doubt, the snowmakers are the heart and soul of our snow
sports operation,” Kryger said. “Being selected for this year’s competition speaks volumes about the progress we’ve made in our own snowmaking efforts over the past few years and is something the entire Greek Peak team and our guests can be excited about. very proud. .”
If Greek Peak wins, they will not only be able to explore Quebec City, but also immerse themselves in HKD’s best-selling products and learn how to safely maintain, troubleshoot, repair and use HKD equipment.
Other competing mountains in New York include Gore Mountain in Warren County, north of Albany.
